SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

United Way of Siouxland fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community.

We work with local partners: local businesses, nonprofits, donors, volunteers, government organizations, schools and more to solve issues that are affecting our community.

We aim to provide a hand-up, versus a hand-out to those served by programs we support, and search for programs that are collaborative so that we can have the biggest impact possible.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our annual Community Impact Funding process is used to invest in a wide array of agency programs and services focused on achieving specific goals.

Our current goal areas are aimed at advancing the health, education and financial stability of our community.

In 2022, United Way of Siouxland announced a new approach to funding programs that officials say will provide flexibility to respond to the quickly changing needs of Siouxland.

This will move the organization from a funded partner grant process to an open grant process.

United Way of Siouxland regularly reviews community-wide data to determine the needs of our local, tri-state community. This data is then compared to the availability services. When a gap between the needs of our community and the services available exists, United Way gets involved, whether by volunteering, advocating, or providing financial support to help find solutions to the most pressing needs of our community.

Annually, United Way provides support to dozens of local programs that provide measurable results in areas of determined need. United Way of Siouxland is the fiscal agent for and an active participant in Source For Siouxland, a data collection and analysis initiative. This partnership involves nearly 100 local nonprofits who annually receive updated data metrics specific to Siouxland which can be used to analyze current programming, identify gaps, and develop partnerships and programs to address areas of greatest need.

As custodians of community contributions, strict accountability is expected and required of all funded programs. These partnerships are central to our mission and are based on shared goals and commitments to positively impact the community in which we all live.

Annually, we collect demographic information for all programs supported and beyond, that, we work with agency partners to develop indicators to measure the success of their programs.

Each year, United Way of Siouxland serves 10's of thousands of people across the tri-state area. Our focus on health, education and financial stability is aimed at providing preventative services and a "hand-up" to our community members.

The accountability of programs through our Community Impact Process is outstanding, and we continue to look for ways to increase the positive impact we can have.

We don't do this work alone--it takes all types of organizations, from non-profits, for-profits, government agencies, churches and individuals, working together to make our community stronger.

United Way is using the data collected through Source For Siouxland o set new goals for 2023 and beyond, ensuring that funding is invested in strategies to make change happen.
