Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Affordable Housing Services
Own, develop and manage rental housing units for low-income families. Rental management includes the administration of rental subsidies, the marketing and leasing of both owned and non-owned units, ensuring unit and family compliance with building and occupancy codes, as well as other regulatory agencies.
Services are provided through the following:
Emergency and transitional housing contracted through Polk County Social Services (2 units)
Permanent rental housing to qualified low income individuals/families with a Section 8 voucher (27 units).
Supportive Services
Anawim Housing Supportive Services assist families and individuals living in Anawim Housing by providing educational and recreational opportunities for individuals and families to strengthen their physical and mental well-being. Through a rental relief fund, we are able to offer rental assistance in times of a life crisis that would otherwise jeopardize the resident's housing. Community gardens are provided at several of our locations as part of the Supportive Services program. When families and individuals move into Anawim Housing, they are provided a housewarming basket full of essentials to help them get settled into their home which is funded by Anawim Supportive Services. Ongoing special events and programs are available to all tenants of Anawim Housing throughout the year and led by our Supportive Services manager.
Permanent Supportive Housing
For more than 20 years, Anawim has provided permanent supportive housing programs. These units house families as well as individuals who come from homelessness and suffer from either a mental illness, substance abuse, HIV and/or are defined as medically fragile. Upon referral through Centralized Intake, the supportive program staff meet regularly with participants, helping them on their road to self-sufficiency. Program managers provide case management services in order to address housing stability.

- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
