What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Free Public Exhibitions
Free public exhibitions of visual art, featuring approximately 35-40 solo, curated, and competitive thematic productions each season. Exhibits deliberately are inclusive of students and professionals and are juried without regard to the individual artists' status. At least three exhibits each season focus specifically on student work (Rites of Passage for undergrads, and Master Pieces for graduate students).
Annual Publication Projects
Manifest Press is the originator of three major annual book projects, which survey three distinct art forms as being practiced around the world present day. These are the International Painting Annual, International Photography Annual, and the award-winning International Drawing Annual.
Manifest Drawing Center studio courses
The Manifest Drawing Center offers hundreds of hours of life drawing sessions each year, along with special multi-week professionally instructed workshops focusing on drawing and related studio processes and concepts. The Center also offers special intensive 'master class' workshops taught by prominent national or international artist-instructors two to three times each year.
The Manifest Artist Residency (M.A.R.)
The Manifest Artist Residency is an annual award offered on a competitive basis to emerging and established artists. The award primarily consists of free 24/7 use of a 500 square foot north-lit studio adjacent to Manifest Gallery, as well as unrestricted access to participate in all Manifest Drawing Center open life drawing sessions for the duration of the residency. Other benefits to the artist include the requisite 'residency open house' during each of Manifest's 9 public exhibit receptions for the year, allowing the public to meet and interact with the resident artist, and to experience his or her growth over the course of the residency. The program also gives the resident artist consideration for teaching courses at the Manifest Drawing Center in order to further develop skills as a teaching artist.
