Finding forever homes for dogs in need

aka AFH   |   Chantilly, VA   |  http://www.aforeverhome.org

Mission

A Forever Home Rescue Foundation (AFH) is a non-profit, all-breed dog rescue based in northern Virginia. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abused, neglected, abandoned, and unwanted puppies and dogs. Our goal is to match each dog with their perfect forever home. We have no paid staff and rely on donations to support our lifesaving work. We do not have a facility - we utilize volunteer foster parents to provide love and care while our pups wait for their forever families to find them.

Dog Adoption Services

A Forever Home Rescue Foundation works to place adoptable dogs into quality, loving homes. It is our intention to make placements into forever homes. In support of this goal, we conduct pre-adoption interviews, vet checks, and home visits. Due to the thorough nature of our qualification process, not all applications are approved for adoption; however, our success is reflected in our low return rates and the number of return adopters.

Imagine will be a facility that enables AFH to do a couple things:

1. Provide a revenue generating boarding facility that caters to our adopters and reduces the rescue's dependence on individual donors
2. Provide an office for the rescue, so we no longer have to rely on volunteers to use space in their homes to enable the organization to function
3. Provide a location where we can enhance our service delivery by having adoption events, educational seminars, training events, etc.

Imagine will enable these things, and more.

Policies and processes
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
