What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Young people today face challenges in greater frequency and depth than those faced by previous generations. Coaches and athletes face issues such as win-at-all-cost attitudes, attitudes of entitlement, anger management and self-worth based on win-loss records. Add to that the challenges of navigating family and social relationships, and the pressures can seem insurmountable. Some will successfully navigate these situations, while others turn to risky behavior. As we serve our local schools and communities, we continue to see the growing need to impact coaches and athletes. Investing more time and resources in our youth now will, without a doubt, help shape and prepare the next generation. Young people need positive role models and a framework of strong moral, ethical, and spiritual values that will help them meet the challenges of life. The opportunity to minister to and through coaches to impact athletes is as vital as it ever has been.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Coaches Ministry

A coach is the one of the most influential individuals in our society. It has been said that a coach will influence more people in one year than most people will in a lifetime. FCA seeks to equip and encourage coaches to grow in their faith and become transformational in how they coach their athletes and influence other coaches.

Adults

Camps are a time of "inspiration and perspiration." FCA provides athletes and coaches the opportunity to reach their God-given potential by offering comprehensive athletic, spiritual and leadership training in a camp environment.

Population(s) Served

FCA offers Camp Huddles, Campus Huddles, Coaches Huddles and Team Huddles. These are consistent, small groups of coaches or athletes focused on engaging, equipping and empowering them to become disciples who make disciples.

Fields of Faith is a student led event. Students invite, pray for, share with and challenge their peers to read the Bible and follow Jesus Christ. An athletic field provides a neutral, rally point where a community can come together.

Adolescents

FCA Sports is a program of FCA, continuing in the tradition of reaching coaches and athletes through sport. FCA Sports allows FCA to expand into the growing league and club sports, outdoors sports, motorsports, and action sports space with a new, yet still complementary, feel. FCA Sports provides exceptional youth sports experiences shaped by coaches and volunteers committed to helping athletes not only sharpen their skills but discover truth, belonging and strength in something greater than themselves.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

For more than 68 years, FCA has been empowering coaches and athletes to make a difference for Christ, reaching millions of lives with its positive message of the Gospel. As FCA impacts millions of people across the globe each year, it strives to develop its values of integrity, serving, teamwork and excellence in all its coaches and athletes. We've made it a priority to pour into coaches and see them transformed and passionate about the sphere of influence where God has placed them. We desire to see every coach and athlete come to faith in Jesus Christ and grow deeply in their relationship with Him. We want to see them exhibit strong character on and off the playing field.

FCA seeks to make disciples through our strategy of engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ, and lead others to do the same. We call this E3 Discipleship.

Engage: We engage relationally by connecting with individuals and through events in many different environments by building genuine trust, sharing our lives and sharing the Gospel. We strive to connect with coaches and athletes where they are on their spiritual journey.

Equip: After cultivating relationships and once coaches and athletes come to faith in Christ, we want to equip them with God's Word, biblical training, resources and ongoing support in what it means to be a follower of Christ, growing in God's Word and applying it to life.

Empower: Once equipped, we empower faithful leaders who desire to use their time, talents and treasures to help other coaches and athletes experience the Gospel, grow in their faith and share Christ with others. We desire to develop disciples who make disciples, assisting them so they can in turn engage, equip and empower others to know and grow in Christ, and lead others to do the same.

FCA uses our long history of coaching both coaches and athletes to excel on and off the playing field through experiences that leave a lasting imprint. FCA has over 2,500 staff members in field offices around the world. These individuals are trained and equipped for sports ministry and are passionate about seeing their communities and countries come to Christ.

FCA currently has over 19,000 certified Huddle groups meeting on campuses and in the community. This past summer, FCA conducted 839 camps reaching 83,421 coaches and athletes worldwide. We have distributed over 196,000 Bibles this past year. We continue to marvel at how God uses FCA and has stretched, grown and graced this ministry to better equip our staff and volunteers to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus.

The future for FCA involves ministering to coaches and athletes and continuing to grow our FCA staff locally and globally to reach more coaches and athletes with the life changing message of the Gospel.
