Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
STAR
Students Teaching Attitudes of Respect is a program initially developed by Peacemaker Resources and the Northwest Minnesota Foundation. It is designed to increase the social and emotional skills of 6th and 7th graders while teaching them how to present those skills to their families, peers and younger children.
ACEs Education
The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study findings represent a paradigm shift in human understanding of the origins of physical, social, mental, and societal health and well-being. We now know that leading causes of disease and disability, learning and productivity problems, and early death have their roots in the cumulative neurodevelopmental impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). "Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences" presentations are offered to both community and educational organizations. The presentations run from two to three hours in length and are designed to meet the needs of the audience. Objectives: Learn the effects of toxic stress and adverse experiences on brain and nervous system development.
Discuss the key findings of the ACE Study.
Learn how to interact and support children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences to build and strengthen their resiliency.
Girls Lead
Girls Lead is a Peacemaker Resources program with the mission to empower and equip young women to have positive relationships with self, others, and community.
This program provides a one-day, community-based leadership experience for middle school and junior high girls, in conjunction with an organization and volunteers from their community. Girls Lead is a youth leadership program that is community-driven and is designed to cultivate an inter-generational connection with local women leaders.
The Girls Lead model has been successful because it emphasizes personal development as the first step to leadership and stresses the importance of a community connection in utilizing learned leadership skills. The girls will experience leadership through building their strengths, and participating in team-building and goal setting activities.
