Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Annual four-year scholarships, paid annually.

We have awarded $13,550 in scholarships since our inception. We aim to increase the scholarship amounts based upon the increase in donations from alumni and others states in which we are registered as a charitable foundation and states which do not require registration.

Registration in states where alumnae reside. At least 80% are in NYS. We are currently registered in or require no registration in 33 states for solicitation of donations, especially during certain times of the year such as 'Giving Tuesday'.

We are registered as a 501(c)(3) organization so that donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Participation, when available, in matching gift program.

We have enrolled in Amazon.smile and the PayPal Giving Fund which charges no fee on donations. Donations are accepted via check and credit card.

We have an electronic newsletter, The Michaelight, that we send via email several times per year. In it we advertise the annual reunion with links to the reunion form. We mail invitations to the alumnae celebrating an anniversary year ending in '5' or '0'.

We sell merchandise with the St. Michael Academy (now defunct) logo. Merchandise currently includes umbrellas and tote bags.

The Saint Michael Academy website contains donation and 'SMAAA Shop' tabs by which anyone can purchase merchandise via 'PayPal'or make a donation via the 'PayPal Giving Fund' or mail checks.

We occasionally have a special event, such as a "Trip to the Mount" which is a coordinated visit to the mother house of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mother. These Sisters taught at Saint Michael Academy.

We have awarded 11 scholarships.

In prior years we have had benefactors subsidize a one-year scholarship, separate from the 4-year scholarships. There have been three one-year scholarships.

The total amount awarded to date is $13,550 which includes $6,500.00 designated for the remainder of the 4-year scholarships.

Due to the COVID pandemic we have not been able to host an in-person reunion. We host a zoom for the 50th anniversary class. We have continued to receive donations for scholarships through giving Tuesday and end-of-year requests.

We were not able to award a new scholarship in 2020 since the schools were closed and we could not contact someone to submit scholarship requests. We did continue to pay the subsequent-year scholarships previously awarded.
