What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Science in the City (c)
Science in the City (SIC) is an after-school enrichment program that is offered free of charge to high school students and consists of instruction, hands-on experimentation, and field trips. Students are provided with snacks in the after-school sessions as well as snacks and meals during the field trips -- all free of charge.
SIC is a fun, interactive and educational program that improves students' science literacy, exposes them to environmental science topics and shifts their world views surrounding global issues. NELA has developed a customizable and copyrighted ten to fifteen-week curriculum that includes Earth Science and Environmental Science topics and is taught by qualified science instructors, closely following state science standards.
NELA provides a unique training ground where today's brightest minds will teach tomorrow's brightest minds. NELA offers environmental educational and internship programs taught by qualified science instructors and expert environmental professionals. In addition, NELA seeks to encourage youth to pursue rigorous degree programs and become the New Environmental Leaders the world desperately needs.
