The Association for Quality in Audio Visual Technology Inc
Saving the AV Industry One System at a Time!
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Rapid advancement in AV technology has resulted in more product knowledge than ever before, which merely underscores the need for fundamental education in the operational art. InfoComm International has addressed only individual training, not the requisite quality management of the AV companies performing the services. With AV technology moving from the eclectic to the mainstream of our corporate and educational cultures, the cost of technology exceeds $80B and is steadily growing worldwide. The estimates on the cost of poor quality, defects, lost hours, rework, etc. exceed $15B.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
CQT
Certified Quality Technician - CQT Candidates demonstrate that the individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills for monitoring and measuring quality while the AV system is designed and developed (Site Ready, Staging, Commissioning, and Acceptance Milestones), that they can set an audio system's gain structure, and that they have a basic understanding of quality principles and preparing an AV audit. In the end, they can apply the checklists and test instrumentation on a system and verify conformance of an AV system in product, practices and performance.
CQD
CQD Candidates demonstrate that the individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills for monitoring and measuring quality while the AV system is designed and developed (Contract Review, Design Review, Engineering Review Milestones), that they can themselves create an EDID plan, and that they have a basic understanding of quality principles and preparing an AV audit. In the end, they can use the checklists, manufacturers manuals and the mathematical tools they are given to properly review a design.
CQL
The CQL program dispels the misunderstandings surrounding quality in AV, addresses ROI, suggests a "how to" in Training Management, presents the ABC's for creating procedures for consistent, defect-free operations, explains how to integrate the AV9000 Standard into day-to-day operations, and shows how to improve a corporate culture of quality.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
In general, improve quality. Overwhelmingly, engineered AV Technology is delivered only with long "punch lists" of defects, at great cost to AV Companies and Buyers as well.
When on-time, "defect-free" systems installations become the norm, we will have accomplished our goal.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Educate the Buyer, while educating the Buyer on quality principles, auditing, quality management systems using our AV9000 Standards, and the true costs of Poor Quality in designing and installing these complex systems.
Taking lessons from the automotive, aerospace and telecommunications industries, that will occur when the Buyer demands vendors use a quality management system with metrics compliant with a Standard for that industry (AV9000).
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Founder's 46 year industry experience, coupled with years of training in the audiovisual operational arts, and a growing body of ardent volunteers who see the value and offer their services.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Nearly two hundred members, even more professionals certified in the auditing skills they received from our training. Also, more sponsors added each year.
