Mission

To provide Pet Oxygen Masks to Fire Departments and other first responders, providing your pet with the best chance of survival from home fires.

To provide a platform to encourage a pet savvy public, through Pet Safety, Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Awareness.

And to change the laws to match the efforts we stride for in animal welfare!

Notes from the nonprofit

My name is Debra Jo Chiapuzio and I am the founder and president of the Emma Zen Foundation. When I first learned of a pet oxygen masks and what it took to have first responders save a pet, all I really wanted to do was offer that kind of chance of live to my pet. While doing so my social media exploded and each friend wanted their pet(s) to have the same opportunity too. I saw the need and started this foundation.

My goal was to make sure my pet was safe. The foundations goal is to make sure your pet does too!

In the years since we have started and the many pets saves that we have seen I have to say, "this IS the best thing I have EVER done in my life! Giving back to those pets that have always offered me so much!"

TEAM Aid will provide Pet First Aid kits to the members of the National Disaster Search & Rescue Foundation. This human/dog teams are deployed during every US and International diseaser. Pet Bark is a dual effort between the Emma Zen Foundation and BarkCODE pet ID tags to supply those pets in shelters with immediate identification. Even though pets are chipped in many shelters many pets get lost and returned before people have the time to register their IDs. With BarkCODE fewer pets will be returned to shelters and will find their way back to their new homes!

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our immediate goal is to see one Pet Oxygen Masks kit on every front line vehicle in Southern California, then all of CA.
Our larger aim is to make sure we have a represent in every state to help us establish kits in their state.
Our future goal is to make it mandatory for all first responder vehicles to carry life saving equipment for pets!

We raise funds through grants and public donations so that we may supply fire fighters all over the United States with the proper pet life saving equipment and training.

We are constantly applying for grants and other funds. We now have 5 major fundraiser a year.

We started a method by which others may learn to cover their city, county or state so we can saturate the US in a more calculated fashion.

Our grant history is available at http://www.emmazenfoundation.org/grant-history.html

We are a group of very persistent pet lovers and all those that come aboard tend to have that same passion to keep pets safe!

In our first six months of operation as a non-profit in 2011 (July - December) our revenue exceeded $12,000 producing more than 160 kits available for distribution. We passed these figures in the first three months of 2012 by years end our generated funds topped 86,000.00 In 2012. We covered four of Southern California's largest counties including Orange County, Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County and Riverside / Cal Fire County Fire Departments and distributed over 1,146 Pet Oxygen Mask kits in 2012. Our administration fees for 2 years running have only been approximately 9.5%. In 2013 we showed more good results! These figures put us over 2,500 Pet Oxygen Masks kit donated line with our continuing low admin considerations.

We supplied over 400 kits in the State of Colorado allowing their State Senator to pass the fist bill on OPT IN ER CARE for PETS on Emergency Scenes. This is now the practices we are trying to establish in the State of California.
