What we aim to solve
Our Mission is to work for justice and equality for oppressed, poor, and victimized people. Angels for Action are deeply committed to our cause, even when it is necessary to challenge the social and political systems that create many societal problems. We are a non-profit group, dedicated to sponsoring free education and training programs that break down the barriers separating certain community groups from mainstream society. We will work tirelessly to stop the exploitation of the weak and encourage their empowerment.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
ESL Education
Three quarters a year for 3-4 months. We have about 9 ESL classes a year with about 300 students a year. Learning basic to intermediate levels. Students pay for their own materials as we only ask a minimum $5 donation a month.
Basic Computer Training
Learning the keyboard and basic knowledge of the computer. Knowing the ins and outs of how to navigate around and using Microsoft programs such as word document.
Community Services
Free Health Clinics, Food/clothing donations, Toy drives for needy children in usa and abroad, Community Meetings, Women Groups, referrals, translator
Plainfield ID Cards
ID Cards would give those, who are unable to obtain other documents such as immigrants, youth, homeless persons, and those in recovery or re-entry programs, better access to city services and help the police confirm their identities should they become targets of crime. The local identity cards do not grant legal residency or the right to work. They are intended to fold illegal immigrants into the fabric of the community by giving them entree to services and places that require some sort of recognized identification.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goals are to be a voice for the 'voiceless', to advocate for our cause and to transform our words into actions. Through our partnership with the community we offer education literacy, training programs, and resources to assist marginalized people with medical issues, legal issues, social service issues, domestic abuse, funeral assistance, transportation assistance, and basic material goods such as shelter, clothing and food. Aid victims of crimes of hatred, prejudice, and abuse
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We give free programs open to all in the community run by amazing dedicated volunteers. Our strategy is to help maintain a constant flow of volunteers whom are also interested in helping in the community to grow to be able to continue our classes. With only a few fundraisers needed a year to help maintain operation costs we can help focus all on energy on the quality of the classes. In the future, another strategy is to help growing our donators base to make monthly or yearly contributions for as little as $5 or increase our in-kind support base to have less fundraisers to focus more on our outreach
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
All our board members have come from other non-profit organizations with 20 years experience each. We are all familiar with the community and have a good foundation with the town in being known for our programs. Since we have no staff then all of our donations go directly to support our programs and operation costs. As we are growing, we can reach out to more long term volunteers.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have help hundreds a people a year in ESL classes alone. We have helped adults with no where to turn to, to be able to gain more confidence in the English language to assist their children or even apply for USA citizenship. We have also expanded our programs and also 16 other services such as our annual toy drive and free health clinics.
Being in a low income town racked with crime, we have encourage people of all ages to volunteer in their community and find the joys in giving back. It is all due to the kindness of our in kind supporters that without them we would not be able to run our non-profit with a 100% volunteers.
