Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goals are to provide outstanding equine and canine therapeutic interventions with careful planning and pre/post assessments to document and collect data to support their effectiveness.
We provide an opportunity for persons with disabilities to experience the power of the human/animal bond in their lives thus promoting positive, life long wellness and health.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We offer therapeutic riding, unmounted programs, and plan to add driving and interactive vaulting programs in the near future. These equine programs provide physical activity, mental stimulation, emotional comfort, and focus/concentration skills.
Our teams of certified therapy dogs work with individuals and groups in a variety of settings including hospitals, assisted living facilities, foster care facilities, and schools. As with the horses, the dogs also provide physical, mental, and emotional support for those in need.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our equine therapeutic programs are provided at two farms, one in Guilford and the other in Newtown. All programs are taught by instructors certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (PATH, International).
Canine programs are taught by certified teachers who ensure a strong educational component.
The Director is a certified professional dog trainer, licensed therapy dog instructor and evaluator, a certified PATH has 30 years educational and curriculum development experience. The Director holds a Masters Degree in Recreational Therapy.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have expanded our equine and canine services by opening a studio/office space where we conduct therapy dog training. We have added a second farm location for our equine program.
