What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
We Care Program
Through referrals from primary care physicians, We Care coordinates free specialty medical services for uninsured, low-income Indian River County residents utilizing our network of volunteer We Care physicians to improve their continuum of care, offering one or more half days per month to provide care in areas such as but not limited to Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Podiatry, and Ophthalmology, WeCare pays for surgical materials, testing like MRI and PET scans, cataract lenses, medications, and basic medical supplies. These essential services provided prevent medical conditions from becoming acute and avoid emergency care and even hospitalization.

Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our primary goal is to ensure that every adult in Indian River County has access to quality specialty medical care. We have over 40 specialty volunteer doctors who offer free services to those without health insurance and an income less than 200 % of the federal poverty level. Our partner physicians commit one or more half days per month to provide care in areas such as but not limited to Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Podiatry, and Ophthalmology. We Care assists with transportation for patients who need help getting to and from the doctor's offices, surgical materials, testing like MRI and PET scans, cataract lenses, medications, radiation expenses, and basic medical supplies.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We have a committed board of medical and non-medical individuals committed to our mission who provide leadership for the following strategies:
1. To raise enough funds to provide those medical resources our physicians require;
2. To provide long term financial stability by cultivating donors and sponsors;
3. To use print and social media to make sure that the community knows of the services We Care provides; and,
4. To collaborate with all medical professionals in our county to ensure that everyone has access to quality health care.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The We Care Foundation has put the following in place to help us meet our goals:
1. Continuing to recruit and support our volunteer doctors through professional and social activities,
2. Collaborating with Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Treasure Coast Community Health, and the Whole Family Health Clinic
3. Hiring a director of marketing (2024) and a director of development (2024)
4. Applying for appropriate new grants while continuing to maintain current grants
5. Updating our 5-year strategic plan
6. Maintaining an up-to-date website to facilitate communication and donating
7. Developing a comprehensive print and social media campaign.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We are proud of the following:
1. Maintaining and enhancing our We Care clinic's facilities
2. Adding more volunteer specialty doctors to our network
3. Helping our patients navigate the medical services maze
4. Expanding our partnerships to include the Florida Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, Treasure Coast Community Health, Whole Family Health, Cleveland Clinic, and 40+ other volunteer specialty physicians and facilities who offer their services to our patients in IRC - Serving 685 unduplicated individuals just last year.
