Goals & Strategy

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The Vice Chairman attended a conference at his own expense, we are taking advantage of online learning opportunities, and networking through board members to recruit and raise funds. We are in search of an initial grant of approximately $5,000. for an internet membership and fundraising drive.

Advertising, applications for grants, better website management, SEO, direct email and adword campaigns.

We have the zeal on behalf of the board, but it is limited at this time by budget. We are a smaller, younger organization in a "cart and horse" type situation which can only be cured by infusions of new members and donations. We have identified the problems and possible solutions, and now need the funding to effect the solutions.
We became a VA Chaplain endorsing agency in 2021.

So far, in just our first complete year since 501c3 IRS determination, we have the four board of director positions filled and have attracted new members in Washington state. We have taken advantage of one conference and numerous online trainings, upgraded our GuideStar status and profile and worked on our online visibility.\r\n\r\nImprovement in these areas, a real membership and fundraising drive are our priorities for what is next.
We endorsed our first Chaplain for the VA in 2022. Also started a School of Ministry.

Data
  • We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
  • We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
Policies and processes
  • We have a promotion process that anticipates and mitigates implicit and explicit biases about people of color serving in leadership positions.
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
