What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Kids Against Hunger Bay Area is about feeding starving children and empowering kids, teen and adults to be part of the solution. We do this by using volunteers to package and ship highly nutritious, life-saving meals to starving and malnourished children in developing countries and the United States.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Kids Against Hunger - Bay Area organizes food packing events at our warehouse, at public and private schools and at corporations events. This is where children and adults can participate in helping Kids Against Hunger - Bay Area pack highly nutritious, life-saving meals into bags holding 6 meals each. These meal are sent to organization around the world and within the United States to feed starving children and families. Kids Against Hunger sends meals to orphanages in Haiti, Philippians and India. We also work with organization like Feeding America, Food 4 Thought to distribute the food to needy families in the United States and finally we also work with Convoy of Hope to get needed food to disaster area like the Southeast US and the Bahamas after hurricanes.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Kids Against Hunger - Bay Area has build up a large group of volunteers and organization that sponsor food packing events. This includes small individual groups doing packing events for birthdays, anniversaries, or just to have a packing event. We also have about 100 public schools and corporations that sponsor annual packing events. This gives us the manpower to actually get the food packed into bags of 6 meals per bag. These volunteers then box up the bags and load them onto pallets to be shipped anywhere in the world. Over the past 10 years we have grown from packing 115,000 meals / year to packing 2.5 Million meals in 2019.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
As stated before we have gone from packing 115,000 meals per year to packing 2.5 meals per year. At this point our goal is continue providing as many meals as possible to helps feed the million of starving children around the world.
