What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The World Bank reports the average annual household income for Ugandans is $680 per year, and the United Nations lists Uganda as a least developed country. Uganda faces the physical and economic challenges of access to clean water, sanitation, and contagious illness. Approximately 60% of the population in sub-Saharan Africa do not have access to piped water and sanitation. Typhoid, skin infections, worms, measles and malaria are common. Complicating the challenges of poverty and the previously mentioned diseases is the incidence of Hansen’s disease (leprosy). In our region about 400 new cases of Leprosy are reported annually. It is unknown how many leper colonies exist in Uganda today, but we work with 3 of these communities.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Low cost health care

This program is funded by Tujje Ministries and is staffed by local Doctors and nurses. The community healthcare leaders also visit the remote villages like Nagamera the Leper Colony. The need is Great in these areas.

Population(s) Served
Adults

Children for age 4 and up are selected and sponsored by donations from the U.S. These children are the poorest of the poor in the community of Magamaga. The guardian or parent cannot afford to send them to school. The families are very poor. Supporting a child in school gives the whole family hope for the future. And we have seen these children grow into successful adults.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Provide Healthcare for venerable and under-served populations in Uganda. Assist communities in poverty alleviation through student education programs and promote self-sustaining community programs.

We support a low cost clinic and community healthcare partners that travel to venerable under-served communities including leper colonies. We also provide education to children of deeply impoverished families.

We have a fully staffed clinic. We have 5 community healthcare partners that are recognized leaders in their community. We also have 5 Mentors that work closely with the school, students and families. Student funding comes from a US based sponsorship program. We have a Uganda based NGO ( Non- Government Organization ) and board as well as the registered 501C3 not for profit organization in the US. The student sponsorship program is growing and self sustaining financially. We also receive monthly donations for general budget in Uganda. We seek ongoing donations to support the clinic and healthcare program.

Through the community health care partners, we have established relationships with many communities in Uganda. The Mentor program has grown along with the student base. The clinic is providing much needed low-cost healthcare to the community as well as free medical service for our students. These three programs have brought a sense of community and togetherness with the villages we serve and Tujje Ministries. We have a presence there and the communities know who we are and what we do. We plan to increase our student base and our outreach to the leper colonies. We are applying for registered Government funding for vaccinations and immunizations at the clinic. We have property that we are farming at this time and hope to build a compound for Tujje there. It is God’s plan that we follow not our own.
