K9S FOR FREEDOM & INDEPENDENCE

So That 4 Paws, Opens Doors and Minds

Collinsville, TX   |  www.k9sforfreedom.org

Mission

We train Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) K9s. We find and screen dogs from shelters or foster groups. We train the dog for First Responder Agencies to help the employees, Officers, Fire Fighters, Community Members, School Children and Staff cope with extraordinary stressful situations in their work lives. We are focusing on law enforcement agencies due to the unjust criticism on police right now. We DO NOT charge the agency for our services or for the dog. These dogs are extremely useful during investigations, natural disasters, special needs children, social events with law enforcement just to name a few. If we can help prevent well trained officers and employees from walking away due to stress, lack of support, family pressure, we all win.

Notes from the nonprofit

We are a small non profit doing big things to help 1st Responders recover from the things they see and deal with on a daily basis. Our growth is getting even better because of the special dogs we produce and the training we provide.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To help 1st Responders deal with the horrific things they see on a daily basis, that is causing more of them to commit suicide. To assist victims of violent crimes tell their story to investigators so the guilty party can be found and prosecuted. To assist 1st Responders dealing with community members in crisis. To bridge the gap between the 1st Responder and the community in need. All of this is done using a specially trained dog that we donate to agencies across the country as Official K9's. They are a combination of handicap service dogs, detection dogs and therapy dogs that we call, Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) K9.

Networking, fundraising, grants, training events, speaking engagements

We are working with other 1st Responder agencies and organizations, volunteers, to produce more dogs, get the word out, raise awareness, raise money, product donations and buy in by the general public, and the 1st responder community.

We have placed even more dogs this year across the country, speaking engagements, networking have really helped to get even more support.
