HOPE CONNECTION INTERNATIONAL INC
Empowering Survivors of Abuse and Addiction
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Victims of abuse become displaced and need a safe place to heal while dealing with multiple issues in order to achieve a healthy future. Addicts coming out of long-term rehab or jail need a place to transition and incorporate life skills that they missed while in addiction so they can carve out a new path for themselves. We, at Hope Connection, want to provide that safe place of transition and healing with supportive housing and ongoing education and resources.

This group is for women who have suffered abuse as a child or in the recent past, domestic violence victims, and women who have been abandoned any time in their lives. Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Phase I (2012)
Mending the Soul classes offered for domestic violence and abuse recovery; this program also addresses any victims who witnessed abuse, were abandoned as children, or who need further healing from past trauma to strengthen their marriages and families.
Phase II (current)
Our Community Care Center offers free support groups and enrichment classes, reaching out to parents and teens with crisis prevention resources, as well as after-care support for victims of domestic violence, loved ones of addicts, and others, with education and resources to promote the healing process.
Phase III
Opened our new thrift store called Deja vu Furniture and Home Decor in November 2017. This social enterprise business will help fund our mission.
Phase IV (in planning stages)
Supportive housing program for women and men, especially those who are homeless due to abuse or those who have aged out of foster care, long-term rehab, or jail, and need life skills, mentoring, and guidance to become healthy, high-functioning members of society.
We are planning a long-term supportive housing program for victims of domestic violence with children. Victims need a safe place to heal without interference and manipulation, free of financial stress, so they can focus on building a better future for themselves and their families. We are also planning a Yurt Village Community for men coming out of long-term rehab or jail.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Currently, we are raising funds through affiliate event fundraising programs, event galas, online and social network marketing, and corporate private grants.
We have opened a resale/ retail furniture and home decor store that will eventually increase the non-profit's net revenue by hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.
As the store begins to generate funding and program growth, Hope Connection International will qualify for more robust grants, expand programs, and attract more a larger donor base.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We are currently capable of reaching our budget and program goals on a yearly basis. Our programs and direct services are expanding, our revenue is growing steadily, and our capital campaign for the store is beginning to gain traction.
As revenue growth grows large enough, executive level staffing will transition from part-time to full-time and allow for more opportunities.
Volunteerism and donations through the store will engage the community in a more visible way, provide more funding for issue awareness, and self-perpetuate a deeper impact.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Class growth, attendance, and revenues are growing exponentially each year. We have already begin to sponsor domestic violence victims and the planning and development stage of the store is well underway.
We must reach profitability in the thrift store in order to begin laying down the framework for the larger housing programs. Or, we must attract and retain a large donor base, major gifts, and private or public grants.

- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
