Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Research shows that structured after-school activities work. They engage students, keep them in school, and keep them from participating in risky behaviors. Clubs and sporting activities need help to provide the inspired minds and innovative ideas of students with the tools to succeed in their missions. That's where we come in. We support clubs in all focus areas and encourage all students to get involved with extra-curricular activity to become further engaged and hone skills. Students learn to collaborate, manage and balance their time, and gain valuable leadership experience.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Support My Club
Critical aspects of learning occur outside of the classroom and involvement in clubs and sports can prove to be crucial to student behavior, grades, social relationships and most importantly, graduation. Unfortunately, many Arizona students do not have the resources they need to be successfully equipped or to even participate.
Support My Club (SMC) believes that ALL students should have the opportunity to pursue their interests and talents. SMC is a comprehensive free online platform that allows school clubs and teams to request their needs – items that directly assist students in achieving their goals in academics, activities, arts, and athletics. Community members then visit the site, select an item(s) that aligns with their interests and giving abilities. Upon checkout, donors receive a 100% tax-deductible donation receipt and the item(s) are delivered directly to the school.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Support My Club strives to increase access for high school students to participate in clubs and teams, ultimately removing the monetary barriers for student participation and reducing teacher out of pocket expense. We are able to do so by creating a comprehensive free online platform that allows school clubs and teams to request their needs – items that directly assist students in achieving their goals in academics, activities, arts, and athletics. Community members then visit the site, select an item(s) that aligns with their interests and giving abilities. Upon checkout, donors receive a 100% tax-deductible donation receipt and the item(s) are delivered directly to the school.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?

We continue to collaborate and network with our community - whether that be donors, organizations, or in-kind - to bring awareness of the needs of the students in the schools in Arizona to provide an opportunity to pursue their interests and talents without any barriers or obstacles.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Support My Club is an Arizona-founded nonprofit currently supporting only the needs of Arizona high schools. We are a small but mighty team utilizing technology to make our work the most effective and efficient that it can be. Through the power and support of our community through networking, partnership, and collaboration, we can also provide the items, funds, and tools necessary for the schools across the valley that are registered with SMC.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In 2012, Founder Amy Armstrong was working with Camelback High School on their cultural changes in an effort to affect academic performance. After learning of their research backed emphasis placed on the importance of students being involved in extracurricular activities during high school, she wanted to make sure that nothing stood in the way of student success or participation. As a dance team member in her high school career, she understood first hand the profound impact that extracurricular engagement had on her life. As an orphan at age 15, Amy used dance as an outlet and credits her time on her high school dance team as a major factor in her educational success.
At Camelback High, Amy implemented a wedding registry technology model to the needs of clubs and teams. With a seed grant from the Kiita Foundation, the platform and technology was built. While that seed grant could have covered the needs of all of Camelback’s year 1 needs, the investment was made in the infrastructure and development of a system that would serve many more, for many years. That same base of support now serves 152 schools, statewide, year after year.

- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
