Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Amazing Orphans International - Provides community projects (farms, schools, medical clinics, etc.), and financial assistance for food, clothing, education, and medical care to vulnerable, orphaned, and abandoned children and the communities they live in.
Jonny's Wagon - Help end hunger in America.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Jonny’s Wagon
We are fundamentally changing the way Jonny’s Wagon supports communities through the implementation of a neighborhood food drive model where teams go into neighborhoods to collect food. The food is then brought back to our warehouse for dating and sorting before being redistributed by our delivery teams to those in need.
Jonny’s Wagon “Neighborhood” Food Drive Campaigns
We are creating teams to help us collect canned goods and non-perishable food items for redistribution to soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, churches, community centers, and basically any place that feeds our homeless, or those who may not know where their next meal is coming from.
Teams are assigned neighborhoods to distribute paper grocery bags on Wednesdays (bags that we provide). Typically, bags are put into a paper box or against the front door of each home in a neighborhood (subdivisions/neighborhoods of 200 or more tightly knit homes are ideal), and each bag has our message stapled to it.
The message simply asks people to donate canned goods and non-perishable food items by placing them in the bag we provide and setting them out on their front porch (by noon) for pickup on the following Saturday.
Teams then go back on Saturday (starting at noon) to pick up the grocery bags and bring them back to our warehouse. There they check the dates for expired food and then sort everything by placing it on shelves for redistribution.
Our warehouse manager then creates tubs for our mission partners, that our route drivers come in later to collect, and then they distribute to our mission partners on predefined routes
While I have not listed the specifics of our Corporate and Grocery Food Drive Campaigns, they are even simpler in their operation and cost us little to nothing to implement.
Food Drive Campaign Highlights
Highly Cost-Effective Jonny’s Wagon Food Drives are highly cost-effective, allowing us to feed significantly more people with the same amount of financial resources as we have used in the past.
Simple Implementation Jonny’s Wagon Food Drives are a fun, safe, and easy way for volunteers to help those who are hungry and hurting in America.
Easily Scalable Jonny’s Wagon Food Drives can be run out of a garage or scaled up accordingly (think regional warehouses) to accommodate those in need.
Volunteer Friendly Jonny’s Wagon focuses on bringing volunteer groups together of all sizes.
