Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Wounded Heroes Hunting Camp is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping wounded combat veterans heal. We accomplish our mission by getting our Wounded Heroes outdoors hunting and fishing thereby challenging them, empowering them, and enabling them to do the things they love to do.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We want our Wounded Heroes to be able to enjoy the outdoors with almost no limits. We have available two Action Track Chairs for our Heroes to use. Theses track chairs make traversing rough terrain possible. We also utilizing ADA fishing areas if available.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We are able to host events all across the Untied States. We have held events in Colorado, Delaware, Ohio, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington, and even Canada. On our events, we united our Wounded Heroes with fellow wounded veterans and provide them the tools they need to enjoy the outdoors.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our organization held 30 events this past year that were attended by more than 70 different Wounded Heroes. We look to increase the number of events to be able to serve more Heroes requesting our help.
We also own two Action TrackChairs. Our goal is to be able to acquire additional chairs to enable our severely injured Heroes to utilize.
Our long term goal is to purchase our own property to be able to specifically tailor to meet the needs of our Wounded Heroes.

- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
