What we aim to solve
The majority of urban men in their upper twenties grew up without their birth father and struggle with identity, purpose and relationships. This brings generational destruction with no end in sight. Break Free engages men in the global Hip-Hop culture and provides Spirit-empowered communities, a new gospel-vision and discipleship to restore healthy families and churches. • According to GRIP Outreach for Youth: “‘Today for the first time America’s history, the average expected experience of childhood now includes living in the absence of one’s natural father.’ This includes a staggering 72% of African American and 53% Latino children being born out of wedlock. Moreover, the number of Caucasian children born out of wedlock has grown by 300% since 1975.”
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Focused Investment for Future Growth
We believe the family and church are the foundational ways God designed to bring life, order and security to our society through the living and preaching of the gospel. The increased absence of men in both areas has caused a devastating effect to society at its very core. Our purpose is to help rebuild these structures through rebuilding men. By engaging, transforming and sending the Hip-Hop community, we want to supply the family and church with passionate, Spirit-led men who will take seriously their role as servants and change agents.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We are helping the Hip-Hop community in 12 major city centers to cultivate an intimate relationship with God.
We are an identified leader and influencer in at least 6 major city centers.
We are engaging the inner city with boldness and creativity to make Jesus known, striving to help people own their true identity in Christ.
We are strengthening the local church by fostering a culture of service within the Hip-Hop community.
We are breaking the chronic cycle of the absent man, helping husbands and fathers lead their families closer to God.
We have a unified board and team who battles together for the transformation of the Hip-Hop community.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Intentionally Engage
1. Practices: We practice with breakdancers throughout the week at and interact with other members of the Hip-Hop community.
2. Battles/Events: We will go to the different events that the Hip-Hop community attends.
3. Life Events: Meals, parties, weddings, funerals, etc... To reach any community, you must engage in life events. We pray that the relationships built at practices and events will lead to engaging life events.
Distinctly Love
While we engage with the Hip-Hop community, we will be given opportunities to love them in ways that the world does not. This love includes both sharing the gospel with words and living it through our actions.
Locally Lead:
We want our engagement and love to lead to making disciples of Jesus. We will then send these disciples to the local churches. The church needs more men, ages 18-35, to be serving in the body. The Hip-Hop community consists mainly of this demographic, so we hope to help meet this need.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our organization capabilities for meeting our goals are lacking at the moment. The two things that we are most in need of are:
1. Christian bboys who are passionate about making disciples in the Hip-Hop community. We are struggling to keep up with the demand in the few cities we are in. The practice spots, events, battles, and time that it takes to raise funds, is pushing those of us who are serving in Break Free. We need more workers to effectively carry out the ministry.
2. Funds. The men that we want to see raised up are often from under-resourced areas. We desire to see those believers who are passionate about creative, urban ministry to consider giving to those young men who need funds to invest the time they need to in order to reach others.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In 2022, we:
-had a presence at 20 practice spots, engaging with 300 men every week.
-Spent 75% of our time engaging people who are not believers in Jesus.
-engaged in 10,000 discipleship hours with breakers.
-had 18 Break Free missionaries who were passionately making disciples across seven city centers across the world.
Looking to 2023, our main goal will be growing our missional teams in every city we are in.
