Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
That no Cancer Patient in our area of service is prevented from making their appointment because they cannot obtain a ride
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1) Strong marketing effort with Medical Providers to identify individuals in need of rides. 2) Soliciting Volunteer Companion Drivers through strong marketing efforts such as events, media, and publications and 3) Obtaining funding through Government and Foundation Grants, Individual Contributions, Corporate Contribution and Events such as the Annual Black and White Gala
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
DFS was founded by a cancer survivor who has first hand knowledge of the difficulty that some individual have in obtaining rides for their cancer treatment. This knowledge has lead to a passion to assist patients through a Volunteer Companion Driver Program. DFS has a small but talented workforce of three dedicated individuals who obtain a 100% excellent/good satisfaction rating for its service. During its 5 years of operation DFS has developed systems which match Clients and Drivers based of common interests. Many software programs are used to collect information and effectively use this to serve the clients and fund the program.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
DFS is now celebrating its 5th anniversary and has provided over 12000 rides for 330 clients. Using this success as a foundation DFS is now doubling it coverage area this year to serve a population of over 700,000.
