Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Ben J. Lipps Research Fellowship Program
The goal of the Ben J. Lipps Research Fellowship Program is to fund fellows to conduct original, meritorious research projects. This program will foster, under the direction of a sponsor, the training of fellows who are highly motivated to make contributions to the understanding of kidney biology and disease. Ten new research applicants and ten continuing projects are funded annually, providing $50,000 a year per fellow for two years
Career Development Grants Program
Advancing the independent careers of young investigators in biomedical research, grants of up to $100,000 a year for two years are awarded to applicants within seven years of their initial faculty appointment. Up to nine new and nine continuing projects are funded annually.
William and Sandra Bennett Clinical Scholars Program
Funded annually, the program provides $50,000 a year for two years to a nephrology educator to conduct a project to advance all facets of nephrology education and teaching. One new applicant and one continuing project are supported each year.
ASN Foundation - Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program
Aiming to increase diversity among future leaders, the award provides four years of research and career development support to a nephrologist from a historically disadvantaged background.
ASN has partnered with the Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program (AMFDP) of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to address the shortage of minority scholars with academic and research appointments in the field of nephology through this award.
ASN Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Award Program
Funding five new applicants and five continuing projects annually, the program supports PhD students conducting kidney-related research with guidance from a mentor by providing $10,000 a year per recipient for two years.
