What we aim to solve
Getting dogs out of shelters and in to loving homes is a common goal for many organizations - the problem that our organization focuses on is specifically helping deaf dogs in this situation. Due to their deafness, many shelters find these dogs less adoptable which increases their chances for euthanasia. We have found that a little education goes a long way to fight this problem. Deaf dogs are not less adoptable, and are not harder to train, they are just different. Once a shelter and prospective adopters are made aware of all the community support resources available, and read the stories of other very successful deaf dog adoptions, the likelihood of a deaf dog finding a loving forever home is greatly increased.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Deaf Dog Sponsorship
A primary service provided by Deaf Dogs Rock is the sponsorship of deaf dogs in need. When a deaf dog is in danger and in need of intake to a safe rescue organization, we provide financial sponsorship to cover initial veterinary and other costs. This greatly increases the chances that a local rescue will take in the deaf dog and work towards getting it a loving forever home.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The mission of Deaf Dogs Rock is to promote the care and well being of deaf dogs. This charitable and educational purpose is done through the education of the public regarding the adoption, care, and training of deaf dogs, and through financial support of the shelter, medical, and transportation needs of deaf dogs. Additionally, Deaf Dogs Rock is a national resource for information serving perspective and current deaf dog owners, and the shelters and rescues that have deaf dogs available for adoption.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
To further these purposes Deaf Dogs Rock undertakes activities including education, networking of available deaf dogs, community building, and financial support for the needs of deaf dogs. All of the following activities are currently underway and will continue for the foreseeable future. At this time these activities are done year round by members of the board of directors and other organization volunteers.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The strength of our organization lies in its community. Currently 70,000+ strong on Facebook, and well over 1000 unique daily visitors to our website. With this network, we are able to raise the funds needed to sponsor deaf dogs at risk in to safe rescue organizations, covering initial medical and spay/neuter costs. Additionally, our large online network allows us to reach thousands interested in adopting a deaf dog, so we have a very high success rate in finding deaf dogs forever homes.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our organization currently sponsors an average of more than ten deaf dogs per month. Sponsorship typically entails providing the financial resources needed to get a deaf dog at risk in to a safe rescue organization. We cover initial medical expenses and spay/neuter surgery. Our educational program is also highly successful - shelters all across the country use our website as a resource to provide information to potential adopters of deaf dogs.
