Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
To reduce the harm from prescribing errors and drug-drug interactions.
To provide the public, healthcare providers and research scientists with a credible, accurate and reliable assessment of the potential harm caused by medications
To enable healthcare systems to improve the safe use of medications by incorporating the AZCERT research findings in their electronic systems designed to support and foster the safe use of medicines.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Remain independent of sources of bias that could negatively impact in our analyses of drug safety
Provide research tools that are novel and which can be integrated into the most modern healthcare systems
Partner with trusted and respected organizations which share our mission and our standard of independence
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
A contract with the US Food and Drug Administration greatly assists our work and makes it possible for us to retain our desire for independence.
A partnership with the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, our collaborations with scientific experts in other universities and our excellent working relationship with a large healthcare delivery systems in the Southwest US, Indiana and Europe make it possible for us to implement the innovations that will improve patient care.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have demonstrated that the AZCERT approach has perceived value to a relatively small fraction of the healthcare world, safe use of drugs with the potential of causing sudden cardiac death. Our goal is to convince a much larger fraction of the healthcare universe that AZCERT and others that operate on its principles are essential for many other aspects of drug safety and for healthcare in general.
