Programs and results
What we aim to solve
In our metropolitan area we have thousands of dogs that are either strays or setting in shelters. Most of this is due to uneducated owners allowing their dogs to breed adding, exponentially, to the numbers of stray or unwanted dogs. This leads to shelters having to kill hundreds of dogs per month. Through our efforts we work on educating people about the benefits of spaying and neutering their dogs. For those that are already in shelters or strays we find foster homes for as many as possible while we search for new permanent families. In the meantime we get all their vetting done including spaying and neutering.
Our programs

Pet Education

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We hope to end the overpopulation of dogs in our city while saving as many dogs as possible. We would like to see an empty city shelter and have the citizens feel safe to walk the streets without fear of stray dogs that might attack them.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We're working with our city shelter on programs to go out and educate people on spaying and neutering pets. When we see people violating animal laws in Dallas we give the printed information and offer low cost vetting options so they will be in compliance. We work with other groups to help people who need new fences to keep their dogs in and support those who can't afford to feed their dogs through donated food.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have a very large network of other animal advocate groups. Each with their own specialty. Groups that supply food. Groups who help with low cost or free vetting needs. Groups who supply dog houses and repair fences. We continue to build our relationships with these groups and others. The more we can bring in to help the better our chances are to reach our goal of a pet friendly and responsible city.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have saved and placed well over 1600 dogs in new homes. We've convinced over 1000 people to take advantage of the free or low cost spay and neuter options our city offers. We've help about 100 families who could not afford to feed their dogs keep them through food donation programs and we've helped several families who lost their home by fostering their dog until they could get a new place.
