Dr. William Lascheid Memorial Scholarship for Medical Students
This scholarship offered by the Foundation of Collier County Medical Society honors and remembers CCMS Past President and Neighborhood Health Clinic co-founder Dr. William Lascheid, his many contributions to the medical community, and his tireless efforts to provide care to the underserved in Collier County. Eligible Florida residents enrolled in or accepted to medical school, who have demonstrated excellence in service to their community, may apply. Recipients are selected by the Foundation upon review of the application and supporting materials. The dollar amount of scholarship(s) may vary dependent upon available Foundation funds. Applications available at www.ccmsfoundation.org, and must be submitted by March 31st of each year.
Scholarship - Students Pursuing an Education in Healthcare
As part of our mission, the Foundation of CCMS has enacted this scholarship program to facilitate the award of scholarships to high-achieving students with an interest in careers in healthcare. Students must be a bona fide resident of Florida and enrolled in or accepted to a healthcare program at an accredited institution. Applications are available at www.ccmsfoundation.org and are due by March 31st of each year.

What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Team with local academic institutions to grow their medical and health care programs 2. Provide scholarships for our future physicians and healthcare professionals2. Assist with funding local clinics who provide vital medical services to the underserved3. Promote and launch healthy living programs addressing issues such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease4. Provide leadership, advocacy and support for key community health education programs5. Ensure professional oversight and responsible stewardship of donor contributions.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Foundation can rely in part on the 600+ member physicians of Collier County Medical Society (CCMS), representing a variety of specialties and practice types. CCMS and The Foundation of CCMS also can draw upon the support, experience, and knowledge of their "parent" organizations, the Florida Medical Association and American Medical Association and their respective foundations.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The Foundation has just begun its outreach and it is early to report on measurable progress toward long-term goals.
