Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Relocation and Rehoming Services

We relocate dogs and cats from high-intake shelters, animal control facilities, and reservations in the Four Corners area to animal rescue partners and forever homes in Colorado. We provide transportation to foster homes and other partner organizations, offer medical care and low/no cost spay and neuter services, manage a network of foster homes for temporary shelter, and run adoption events so that these animals can find forever homes.

Adults

Adopting an animal through RezDawg Rescue creates a positive impact in three ways: enriching your life by adding a loving new family member, saving a deserving cat or dog, and decreasing the homeless pet population in the southwestern US. We’ve heard many people say that adopting a RezDawg Rescue animal not only saves the animal’s life, but helps save their own. Also, your adoption fee assists more animals in finding their permanent homes, funds relocation and transportation, and provides emergency medical and spay/neuter services.

Population(s) Served
Adults

Rescuing dogs and cats from the Four Corners region of the US Southwest keeps our team busy! We coordinate with the Navajo and Zuni peoples to transport animals about every two weeks from Gallup, NM to the Front Range and Western Slope of Colorado.

Population(s) Served

We are partnered with the Greater Good Charities to provide donated pet food and supplies to other rescues, shelters and animal control agencies.

Population(s) Served

Mobile clinics on and around the Navajo Nation and rural communities. We spay/neuter over 500 each year and vaccinate over 1500!

We focus on four animal rescue services: Adoption, Relocation, Fostering, Spay/Neuter & Vaccination Services. Whether we are finding animals a temporary home, finding a forever home, or transporting to another rescue organization, we are always focusing on saving animal lives and educating communities on how best to deal with animals in need.

RezDawg Rescue has supported over 15,000 dogs and cats since 2012. Each year we transport 1,700 to foster homes and rescue partners, adopt 1,300 through our adoption program, spay/neuter over 500 owned pets, provide over 2,000 vaccines and 200,000+ lbs of pet food and supplies. TOGETHER we make a difference!

How we listen

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Seeking feedback from people served makes programs more responsive and effective. Here’s how this organization is listening.

done We shared information about our current feedback practices.
  • Who are the people you serve with your mission?

Rez Dawg Rescue Inc (RDR) not only serves the animals of the Navajo Nation, but the whole community. We listen to the community members as to what their needs are and work on a daily basis to adapt our program to better serve them. We provide animal food and supplies, veterinary supplies, coat and clothing drives, and supplement volunteers in their programs.

  • How is your organization using feedback from the people you serve?

To make fundamental changes to our programs and/or operations, To inform the development of new programs/projects, To strengthen relationships with the people we serve, To understand people's needs and how we can help them achieve their goals

  • What significant change resulted from feedback?

Rez Dawg Rescue Inc (RDR) has constant communication with the residents in and around the Navajo Nation. High levels of poverty and the need for more pet food and supplies has been a need expressed to us throughout the years. In response to this, RDR has developed a "Pet Pantry" food and supply warehouse, where we are able to accept and disperse large amounts of donated pet food and supplies. In partnership with the Greater Goods, we receive and hold over twenty six pallets of goods every other month. These are dispersed to over twenty different nonprofits and the members of the community.

  • Which of the following feedback practices does your organization routinely carry out?

We collect feedback from the people we serve at least annually, We take steps to get feedback from marginalized or under-represented people, We aim to collect feedback from as many people we serve as possible, We take steps to ensure people feel comfortable being honest with us, We act on the feedback we receive, We tell the people who gave us feedback how we acted on their feedback

  • What challenges does the organization face when collecting feedback?

We don’t have the right technology to collect and aggregate feedback efficiently, The people we serve tell us they find data collection burdensome, It is difficult to find the ongoing funding to support feedback collection, Staff find it hard to prioritize feedback collection and review due to lack of time
