Mission

The Black Doctoral Network (BDN) is a clearinghouse for individuals of African descent who are holders of or scholars engaged in the pursuit of doctoral and graduate degrees from accredited institutions of higher learning. We manage a pipelined resource for universities, non-profits and corporations in their pursuit of a diverse body of highly qualified and credentialed individuals to enhance their workforce and bottom line.

Board Build

Board Build is BDN's nexus for connecting organizations to talented men and women of color. Board Build was created to support a targeted search for potential board members who possess the necessary skills to meet the goals of various organizations.

BDN's conferences bring together both world-renowned and emergent scholars and professionals from the Social Sciences, STEM fields, and humanities to function as a resource, a support system, as a space of intellectual exchange, and a place to create connections and develop collaborations.

Women of BDN (WOD) is a cross-disciplinary division designed to address the particular needs of Black and Latin women in the academy. This division provides a forum for women to reflect, discuss, and actively work towards tackling the specific challenges regarding issues of inequality, race, ethnicity, and gender. It is the goal of Women of BDN to enhance the lives of women and to empower them in their academic, personal, professional development, and community efforts.

Under-represented minorities in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields often face particular hardships and unique challenges. STEM’ERS is BDN's commitment to working for and under-represented minorities throughout the STEM pipeline to facilitate and foster mentoring relationships and opportunities for advancement for our "Black and STEM" membership.
