Wildwood Farm Sanctuary & Preserve
Protecting Nature, Promoting Compassion, Inspiring Change.

What we aim to solve
Our daily personal choices have far-reaching and profound impact on the lives of humans, animals, and the environment. These impacts are rarely apparent at the moment when a person makes a decision about what to eat or wear, which leaves many people unaware of the consequences of many of the products and activities we take for granted. Our mission is to provide sanctuary and healing to those who have been harmed by our status quo, while educating people to create a more humane and environmentally sustainable future. While providing lifelong sanctuary to survivors of animal agriculture, Wildwood Farm Sanctuary aims to educate and inspire people to live animal- and environment-friendly lifestyles by recognizing the impact of their dietary choices.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Farm Animal Rescue
More than 100 animals call this place home. Many were rescued by law enforcement, seized in horrific cases of cruelty and neglect. The sanctuary becomes their lifelong home, where they receive attentive care, veterinary treatment, and the freedom to be themselves.
Environmental Education
Wildwood is also a nature preserve, where native wildlife and rescued domestic animals coexist in safety and peace. We carefully preserve and the native plants, trees, and wetlands that surround the sanctuary. We help members of the public learn the importance of preserving native landscapes.
Public Education
We are in the process of securing a permanent home for the sanctuary and preserve where we can expand our educational opportunities. This is will be a beautiful and peaceful place where wild and domestic animals, humans, and the natural environment all thrive. Visitors can attend events, tours, and workshops on effective advocacy, vegan nutrition and cooking, landscaping with and preserving native plants, preserving and nurturing native species and their habitats, and safely coexisting with native predators.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Protecting nature. Promoting compassion. Inspiring change.
Located on 98 acres in Newberg Oregon, Wildwood Farm Sanctuary is a haven for farm animals and wildlife alike. We provide lifelong refuge and rehabilitation for abused and abandoned farm animals while lovingly protecting the property’s native plants, wetlands, woodlands, and wild animals. Through our mission and the lives of our beloved residents in this special place, we aspire to inspire! Our greatest hope is to help open eyes and reshape the way humans view and treat farm animals by considering a compassionate and cruelty-free way of living.
BELIEFS
We believe that:
All animals deserve the opportunity to live their natural lives in safety, with the ability to form bonds with others and to express their natural behaviors.
All animal lives have inherent worth regardless of what humans want from them. Humans overstep their rightful place when they breed, raise, kill, or otherwise exploit animals based on the monetary value of their bodies or bodily secretions.
A true sanctuary allows animals to live safely and naturally without the expectation that they will perform, socialize, entertain, or otherwise interact with humans in a way that serves humans’ interests.
Wildwood’s 98-acre property represents both a gift and a tremendous responsibility of stewardship and care.
Native plants and wildlife have inherent worth regardless of what humans want from them. Humans overstep their rightful place when they extract or exploit nature in a way that serves only humans.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We are home to approximately 100 rescued animals who are survivors of abuse or neglect in animal agriculture. The species currently represented on our sanctuary are cattle, goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, and peafowl.
In 2019 we launched a three-year project through a grant with Yamhill Soil and Water Conservation District. Partnering with local conservationists and habitat restoration specialists, we’ll restore and enhance nearly 20 acres of oak woodland habitat on the sanctuary. Over 250 species of native wildlife in Oregon depend on oak habitat to survive.
Wildwood Farm Sanctuary will:
* Continue to provide lifelong sanctuary to our animal residents.
* Continue to strategically limit intakes of new animal residents in order to preserve the high standard of care our residents receive, and to keep our resources available for the most urgent law-enforcement cases.
* Work with community partners to complete the oak enhancement and renovation project.
* Expand our humane education program, including a newly developed partnership with Outdoor School providers.
* Expand offerings of environmental education programs and guided hikes, and possibly workshops, native plant sales, and speakers.
* Continue to build our presence and reputation as a well-run sanctuary.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
In pursuit of our mission and vision, we are experiencing the following successes:
We enjoy robust attendance at our volunteer work parties and fundraising events.
We are proud of the standard of living and quality of life that our animal residents enjoy.
Through trail work and guided wildflower hikes, we are fostering the public’s love and appreciation for nature and its protection. We also foster the public’s understanding of the environmental consequences of dietary choices, as well as the environmental consequences of the proliferation of wineries in our area.
Through work parties and other opportunities to observe and interact with our animal residents, we are fostering the public’s understanding of the inherent worth of animal lives and the moral consequences of human dietary choices.
Our humane education program introduces children and young adults to a love and appreciation for nature, wildlife, and domesticated animals.
Our magazine, social media, website, and public events promote vegan diets.
