GirlsFOCUSED / BoysFOCUSED
In a world that constantly pulls our youth in different directions, it is essential to help them stay FOCUSED on what truly matters. That's why we created GirlsFOCUSED / BoysFOCUSED, a safe and nurturing environment for young ladies and young men to discover their identity in Christ, unleash their passions, talents, and gifts, and achieve great things for God's glory. With monthly meetings led by mature Christian mentors, we provide activities that build confidence and equip these young people with the skills they need to keep Focusing on Christ Until Spiritual Excellence is Demonstrated. Your generosity can make a difference in the lives of these young souls. Join us in our mission to help our youth stay focused on Christ and make a positive impact on the world!
"Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways" (Proverbs 4:25-27).
Family Giving Campaign
At FOCUSED Ministries, Inc., With the onset of COVID-19, we expanded our focus to also support families through our Family Giving Campaign, which has now evolved into our annual Family Giving Holiday Gift Card Giveaway. Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
FOCUSED Ministries is a faith-based, non-profit organization which will provide a safe residential facility designed to enhance the lives of young girls ages 13-18. In this structured environment, participants will participate in:
1. Personal and vocational surveys and discoveries to understand their strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, etc.
2. Study and tutoring sessions to improve in their academics.
3. Daily/weekly Bible studies to increase in their knowledge of God.
4. Improve family relations in family counseling sessions by trained staff.
5. Mentoring/apprentice programs through a variety businesses and community agencies to increase their vocational skills.
6. Individual and group counseling to improve social and interpersonal skills.
Housing. The location of the residential facility(ies) will be determined. The vision is to purchase a 15.56-acre property located in Skokie, Illinois. The property will include residential housing, central office space with parking space, a recreational facility, and a gardening space.
Program implementation. We will implement a behavior modification program to help modify deviant behaviors with disciplinary actions appropriate for the behavior. There will be scheduled times for study, therapy sessions, Bible study, nursing classes and recreational time.
Nursing personnel will be on-call. Nursing personnel will also implement classes in health and personal hygiene on a weekly basis.
There will be 24-hour supervision in each facility by trained personnel.
We will also utilize the services of local emergency departments including self-defense training and other personal safety information.
There will be outings to museums, theaters, architectural buildings etc., and trips to varying destinations.
At the end of intensive program, we will re-evaluate the goals and expectations and determine if the goals were attained. A decision will then be made whether to graduate the participant and return her to her parents/residence or to extend her stay until the goals and expectations are met. Upon graduation from the program, each participant will receive follow-up services lasting from six to twelve months. Mentoring and apprenticeship programs will also continue after graduation.
Services will be available to young ladies who runaway and/or need temporary housing. Participants accepted under this type of criteria will be allowed a two to four months and receive services/supports based on need. The need for further services/supports will be determined based on circumstances and availability space.
Finally, a variety of Christian and secular materials will be used as teaching tools.
