Notes from the nonprofit

The underlying educational philosophy in this project is that by providing a more beneficial learning environment, all students will have the opportunity to succeed. Students can not only depend on one source of learning, which is the form of the traditional classroom teacher; the students will also receive extra help by using the technology we provide, therefore building a bridge for them

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Free Tutoring

We started two year ago helping our local schools by participation in the STEM project. We are involved in the free tutoring and homework project with the help of my Verizon Wireless colleagues and other professionals from local organizations and retired school teachers. We are also creating animated video lectures for students on selected typical topics so that students can easily understand concepts. We support free online and in class room tutoring and home work for GA and SC. We choose these two states particularly because SC ranks first and GA 4th in the nation for highest high school dropout rate.

Population(s) Served

• Focus on high school dropout rate by motivating youth through our Youth project. We are currently mentoring 12 students from C.H. Terrell Academy. We would like to reduce high school dropout rate in this institute

Population(s) Served

UGA and Takshila jointly develop cooperative educational and research programs for faculty and students of the two institutions within the framework of this agreement. The cooperative activities to be covered by this agreement may include faculty and student exchanges, study abroad, collaborative research programs, seminars and workshops, and service programs.

Population(s) Served
Adults

Takshila Education provides school supplies for needy children of Columbia and Richmond counties of GA and Aiken County, SC.
We are collecting school supplies year around and provide them as per requests from school district. There are many families who cannot afford school supplies.
