NEXTGEN AMERICA SEEKS TO INCREASE YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN OUR DEMOCRACY THROUGH VOTER REGISTRATION AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT ON ISSUES OF PUBLIC POLICY. NEXGEN AMERICA PROMOTES PROSPERITY AND PROTECTS THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS OF EVERY AMERICAN THROUGH ADVOCACY ON ISSUES SUCH AS CLIMATE CHANGE, AFFORDABLE EDUCATION, IMMIGRANT RIGHTS, AND AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE.

NATIONAL YOUTH ORGANIZING PROGRAM2019 WAS NEXTGEN AMERICA'S LARGEST OFF-CYCLE YOUTH ORGANIZING PROGRAM TO DATE. THE ORGANIZATION MAINTAINED A SUCCESSFUL VOTER REGISTRATION PROGRAM IN ELEVEN STATES AND WORKED TO EDUCATE YOUNG VOTERS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF CIVIC PARTICIPATION. NEXTGEN AMERICA WAS SUCCESSFUL IN WORKING WITH COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATIONS TO MAKE STUDENT IDENTIFICATIONS ELIGIBLE VOTER IDENTIFICATIONS AND TO ALLOW POLLING PLACES IN STUDENT UNIONS. NEXTGEN AMERICA ALSO WORKED WITH COUNTY ELECTION BOARDS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL POLLING PLACES IN AREAS THAT ARE HIGH IN POTENTIAL YOUNG VOTERS.

CALIFORNIA LEADERSHIPNEXTGEN AMERICA CONTINUED TO LEAD AN EFFORT TO STRENGTHEN PROGRESSIVE PUBLIC POLICY IN CALIFORNIA, ADVOCATING AND LOBBYING THE STATE LEGISLATURE AND GOVERNOR AROUND ISSUES INCLUDING STUDENT DEBT, CLEAN DRINKING WATER, AND EXPANDING ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE. NEXTGEN AMERICA CONTINUED BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH INFLUENTIAL LEADERS AND DEVELOPING A STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF CALIFORNIA POLICY ISSUES.

THE COMMUNICATIONS TEAM HAS GENERATED POSITIVE COVERAGE IN THE NEW YORK TIMES, WASHINGTON POST, LOS ANGELES TIMES, AND SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, AND ALMOST EVERY NATIONAL MEDIA OUTLET.
