Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Troop Rewards endeavors to partner with enough resort hotels and other financial supporters to send over 200 deployed military members, and their families, on no-cost recovery vacations at luxury resorts throughout the US each year within 6 months of returning home from a hazardous deployment. To reduce the effects of PTSD and help these men and women who are deployed reintegrate back to life at home. To show active military members that we appreciate their dedication and service to defend our freedoms we enjoy every day as US citizens.
It is also our goal to be the non-profit portal in which the local business community surrounding a military base or fort can donate goods, services, events, tickets and other rewards to the armed forces members living and serving in their community.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Troop Rewards works with their hotel partners and other local businesses in the travel and entertainment industries to contribute unused rooms based on occupancy rates and hosts "Welcome Home" receptions for 10 or more families at these events at a designated dates throughout the year at their resorts.
We also ask our partners to provide meals during their stay and help us work together with their vendors to put together a vacation to remember, including tickets and VIP tours to local attractions, like sunset cruises, VIP tickets to local theme parks such as Busch Gardens, Clearwater Marine Aquarium and suite tickets to professional sporting events.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Troop Rewards is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-based public charity. We are funded in large part by in-kind donations from our hotel partners as well as our local business supporters in the travel and entertainment industries. We are receive funding from individual donations from our hotel partner's guests when they make a hotel reservation online.
Troop Rewards has a very active board of Directors with Active Military experience, veterans and descendants of veterans who served in the US Marines, US Navy, US Army and the US Air Force.
Since Troop Rewards inception in February 2013, we have sent over 100 military families on no-cost recovery vacation at luxury resorts throughout the Eastern United States.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have managed to increase the number of RnR Recovery Vacations and in-kind donations by 40% per year since 2013. We have also increased the amount of activities, meals, and other items that make our RnR Recovery Vacations extra special for our selected deployed families.
We still have not been able to provide or cover all the transportation costs incurred by our selected families. This is something we thrive to do in the next 2 years.
