Child Justice, Inc.

Protecting children, providing support, promoting change.

Silver Spring, MD   |  http://www.child-justice.org

Mission

The mission of Child Justice, Inc. is to protect and advocate for children who have been abused or exposed to interpersonal violence or coercive control; to support them and their protective parents; and to promote change through legal services, community outreach, education, and policy recommendations.

Notes from the nonprofit

While we predominantly serve families across the State of Maryland and the Washington, DC metropolitan area, we have a national footprint, accepting qualified cases outside the DC area on a limited basis. We provide pro bono legal services and resources to support children and their protective parents, sometimes assisted by national law firms and local private practitioners. We promote change by educating judges, creating new case law, and raising awareness of the gaps and failures of society’s protection of our most vulnerable children. If you (or someone you know) needs help protecting your children, please visit our website and click on "Request Help" to fill out the online form. Our services are provided free of charge.

Legal Services for Victims of Family Violence and Abuse

Child Justice's legal services program assists in developing and implementing legal strategies specifically intended to provide assistance to victims of crime to assure their safety and security. The primary function is to provide free legal services and support for non-offending parents in child-custody/child-access or protective order cases with the goal of protecting children who are victims of child abuse and/or intrafamilial violence. Child Justice’s goals are to effectively assist and support Protective Parents in domestic violence and child abuse cases by providing the pro bono legal services necessary for the best possible outcomes that safeguard children. The program also offers free training to volunteer attorneys who wish to assist the program, including representing protective parents.
