Mission

The mission of The Mars Generation is to excite young people and adults about space and STEM education and foster an understanding of the importance of these two elements to the future of humankind on Earth. The goal of the organization is to advance public interest in human space exploration and advocate for NASA's journey to Mars. The Mars Generation will also serve as a catalyst to identify students with an interest in these areas and nurture their study in STEM education. The focus of the organization is to build a collaborative network of community outreach efforts, working towards a collective goal of educating and exciting people about the importance of human space exploration and STEM education.

We are working to educate people about the importance of STEM education and human space exploration to the future of humankind. We are also working to inspire students and people of all ages to dream big and think big and to go after their passions.

Space Camp Scholarship Program

A scholarship program to provide 100% funding (including airfare) for kids with aptitude in STEM and with financial need to attend Space Camp®. Providing exceptional, inspirational experiences to talented kids can help shape their future educational and career choices. Students will be nominated by teachers for this scholarship and must qualify for the federal free and reduced lunch program to be considered. Sign up on our scholarship emailing list to receive information for the scholarship nomination as it becomes available.

Population(s) Served

This mentorship program inspires teens and young adults to share their own excitement about space exploration with their own communities. This program is free and is available for anyone ages 13-24. Parents and teachers may also sign up to use the resources available. Sign up to receive information about our Student Space Ambassador Program.

Population(s) Served

The Future of Space Program is an outreach program that is designed to educate and excite people about space and STEM education. We work to empower people with information to advocate for human space exploration and STEM education as essential to the future humankind. Our outreach work occurs online through social media, blogging, and web chats. As of August 2017 our audience combined with our founder Astronaut Abby is now over one million people following on social media and we have reached an estimated 25 million people.

The focus of The Mars Generation is building a stronger tomorrow by energizing our youth today about space and STEM, educating kids and adults about the importance of deep space human space exploration to humankind. The Mars Generation will serve as a catalyst to identify students with an interest in STEM and nurture their study in STEM education.

The Mars Generation is volunteer-driven with executive and advisory boards of leaders from the space industry as well as nonprofit, education and business sectors. Collaborating with many other space and STEM organizations, The Mars Generation reaches a broad audience, creating a groundswell of support for space exploration and compelling funding of space exploration benefitting the future of the Mars generation.

The Mars Generation operates three core programs designed to meet the mission of the organization.

Since 2015 we have given away 19 full paid Space Camp Scholarships (including transportation), we have 1200+ student space ambassadors signed up, a volunteer media team, volunteers to run Space Camp Scholarship Program, Student Ambassador Program and Future of Space Program. We are a new organization and building the organization everyday - official launch was September 15, 2015. As of August 2017 we have a community of over one million people and have an estimate reach of over 25 million since our founding.
