Programs and results
What we aim to solve
We work with children with Autism and other pervasive developmental disorders. We also work with children with other disabilities, such as Cerebral Palsy, MS, behavioral disorders, and others. Our goal is two-fold: We want our students to develop the life skills and strategies to manage and overcome their disabilities. And, we want our students to learn and LOVE riding horses.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to empower our students to overcome their disabilities. We want to teach them the skills and instill the confidence necessary for them to grow and live fulfilling, productive lives.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We use horses and therapeutic horseback riding to instill confidence, independence and knowledge. Our instructors are all experienced horse people and all have experience working with disabled populations to help children be successful. We use evidence-based classroom strategies such as TEACCH, RDI, PECS, etc., and apply them to an equine environment. We also offer to review and work with a child's ARD/IEP to help align their academic goals with their goals at the barn.
Our new facility, which is on 15 acres, is completely off-grid solar. We have 12kW of solar panels, 4400Kw hours of lithium batteries, and we are, from an energy standpoint, completely self sufficient. This means that we are able to feed and water 27 horses with almost zero impact on the environment.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have specially trained horses and horse facilities to accommodate the populations that we serve. Our staff have advanced degrees and a wealth of experience working with children with a variety of different physical, emotional and developmental challenges.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have helped dozens of children learn to love to ride, and to overcome their challenges. Our future plans include expanding our operation to help different populations that may require more adaptive equipment, as well as soliciting donations that would help us to make our programs available to all families, regardless of their financial status.

- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
