THE GREEN HOTEL RESTORATION FOUNDATION

Shafter, CA   |  www.thegreenhotel.org

Mission

This volunteer Foundation is solely responsible for generating funds and developing and directing restoration and preservation of The Green Hotel, built in 1913. The Green Hotel Restoration Foundation was formed for the specific purposes of promoting and establishing The Green Hotel as a historical monument; of restoring, renovating, repairing, improving, and beautifying The Green Hotel structure and its site; and of preserving for public viewing The Hotel and the furnishings, records, and other contents of The Hotel having historical quality and interest. The Foundation is responsible for the grounds, which include the 130-year-old white oak tree that covers the courtyard. The Foundation is also responsible for preserving the small clothing and furniture collection. A volunteer force, known as The Green Hotel Cooks, continues to maintain the landmark with contributions of time, creativity and resources, to make the facility self-sustaining. The Cooks are the fund raising arms of the Restoration Foundation offering gourmet and historical food for special events.
