Lose no child to brain cancer
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Pediatric brain cancer is the most deadly childhood cancer. For a lot of pediatric brain tumor diagnoses, there is no standard of care. Without the development of clinical trials a lot of pediatric brain cancer patients don’t have access to any potential therapies. Current treatments when available often severely reduce the quality of life for those fighting and surviving pediatric brain cancer. With these diagnoses often having a grave outcome, it is so important for families that they at least are given an opportunity. Clinical trials investigate promising new treatment strategies. By raising critical research funds for the PNOC Consortium - an innovative global research collaboration of the world's leading pediatric brain tumor experts, we aim to improve the quality of life for those fighting and surviving pediatric brain cancer, and by pioneering breakthrough treatments eventually reach a future where to lose no child to brain cancer.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Fundraising to support pediatric brain cancer research and clinical trials
PNOC Foundation supports the work of the Pacific Pediatric Euro-Oncology Consortium (PNOC), an international consortium with study sites within the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. PNOC are dedicated to bringing new therapies to children and young adults with brain tumors. PNOC's goal is to improve outcomes by translating the latest findings in brain tumor biology into better treatments for these children.
Patients with brain tumors that cannot be treated with standard therapy, or that have recurred following standard therapy, are often eligible for clinical trials. Clinical trials provide access to promising new treatments that may not be available outside specialized centers.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
To find cures and improved therapies for children fighting brain cancer by funding and supporting the research and clinical trials of the PNOC Scientific Consortium www.pnoc.us
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Foundation will Focus on 4 Key Pillars;
1. Fundraising Events - Including the Annual Gratitude Gala
2. Building an international patient family community - through the development and access to unique and valuable information and content
3. Strategic Collaborations and Partnerships - With Corporations, Foundations and other Non Profits
4. Best In Class Donor Relations, Cultivation and Development
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
To date the organization has achieved remarkable results through the efforts of a largely volunteer board and workforce together with a mosaic of high quality outside resources. In 2022 the Foundation recruited and appointed a Director of Development to drive the Fundraising goals. In 2023 we plan for the appointment of an Executive Director to ensure execution of the newly adopted strategic plan over the next 3 - 5 years. Administrative and support staff will be added as required with the goal of administrative and fundraising expenses not exceeding 25% of total contributions.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In 2021 the foundation grew contribution income by 195% and exceeding budgeted income by 13% . Total Expenses were just 15.5% of contribution income down from 26.6% and 32.2% in the two prior years.
This enable a 99% in grants to support programming over the previous year.
