Creating a loving future, erasing a painful past.

aka Angels for Mistreated Animals   |   Brooklyn, NY   |  https://amaanimalrescue.org/

Mission

Angels for Mistreated Animals or AMA Animal Rescue is a Brooklyn based, no-kill animal shelter. After obtaining a New York State 501(c)3 status in 2014, the organization’s mission has always been to safeguard and rehabilitate animals who have experienced the most severe cases of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Since its inception, AMA has saved countless sick, injured, and abused pet companions from near death, domestically and abroad. After an incredible amount of generosity from their supporters throughout the years, AMA has achieved its long term goal of opening its doors to a 1200sq ft space with clean enclosures and a fenced in outdoor space. Through efficient operations, adequate awareness, and public support, AMA continues to create loving futures and erase painful pasts.

Rescue and rehabilitate severe cases of abuse and neglect

AMA Animal Rescue takes on, rehabilitates and houses the most severe cases of abuse and neglect among companion animals.

Population(s) Served

AMA Animal Rescue commits to providing any and all medical care to every rescue they take on. Due to the severity of the cases that AMA accepts, the medical care often consists of complex surgeries and life saving, invasive procedures. No matter the cost, AMA always ensures their rescues receive the medical care they need to survive, heal and eventually be available for adoption.

Population(s) Served

AMA consists of volunteers who help out in one or two of the below departments.
-The Animal Department is responsible for every aspect that has to do with the hands on rescue process, including: animal intake, vet visits, foster and adopter screenings, home visits, medical follow ups, pet photoshoots, etc. This department is perfect for people with a flexible schedule, people who are able to interview others/do research, or people who are able to drive.
-The Marketing Department is responsible for executing and communicating to the public who we are here at AMA Animal Rescue. Any literature, videos, graphics, or merchandise that AMA distributes is created, approved and produced within this department. Additional responsibilities include blog writing, social media growth, creation of funny videos and memes, donation box distribution and retail shop up-keep.
-The Events Department is responsible for all fundraising activities and events for AMA. As a part of the events team, you are a crucial part of how AMA achieves the funds we use for saving animals in need. You will work to acquire donations of goods and/or services for all planned fundraising events via emailed proposals, telephone calls, and or personal meetings with potential donors. Additionally, you will be responsible for assisting the event planner in planning and executing all fundraising activities.

Population(s) Served

To the kind, eager individuals who are under the age of 21 and who are interested to volunteer with AMA Animal Rescue in hopes to aid the homeless pet community, AMA offers the following options:
1.SUPPLIES: To operate the shelter and make sure our rescues have everything they need, we are always accepting day to day supplies. Such supplies include toilet paper, paper towels, latex gloves, treats, toys, etc. You may put together one or various donation drives where you collect the supplies we need at the moment by explaining to others our goal and mission. The list of all needed supplies will be provided as well as AMA literature, posters, balloons and goodies for information and giveaways.
2.FUNDING: The only way we are able to save animals is by having enough funds to do so. You may put together a fundraiser by selling snacks for double its price and donating the extra proceeds to our organization. AMA literature, posters, balloons and goodies will be provided for information and giveaways. Also, even simpler, you can put together a Facebook fundraiser and choose us as beneficiary. Lots of kind individuals do this for the holidays as well as their birthdays and raise quite a significant amount.
3.DONATION BOXES: The only way we are able to save animals is by having enough funds to do so. Currently we have about 90 businesses in the tri-state area who host a small AMA donation box at their place of business. The more places we can find to host our donation boxes the more funding we will generate each month. You may help by finding locations to agree to place the box in their business.
