Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
EHI Material Assistance:
- Emergency baby supplies such as diapers, wipes, formula, and baby food
- Clothing and equipment including nearly-new baby, child, teen, adult, maternity clothes and accessories, bedding, and baby/toddler equipment
- Gift cards for food, OTC medicine, and emergency supplies
- Community donors network links clients with donor-provided large baby and household items and furniture
EHI Life Skills Training & Resource Materials/Tools:
- Provide clients with practical solutions to care for, engage with, and provide for their babies and children
- Provide one-on-one support such as “mommy and me” relationship building, and “nesting and nurturing” options for preparing and caring for their newborns from birth through toddler years
- Provide materials and sessions to develop handcrafts skills for making things for their babies such as crocheting blankets, caps and booties
- Provide a library of books and videos covering pregnancy, parenting, nutrition, and child development and care
EHI Support Services:
- Customized action plans developed with clients to fit their individual needs
- Community resources referrals for monetary, legal and medical/healthcare assistance
- A safe haven with emotional support for clients and their families through their pregnancy and until they are out of crisis
- A free and open space for parents and children to meet, learn, play, and grow, individually and as a community
- Free self-administered pregnancy tests for clients to estimate their due date and time frame when needing support services and material assistance
EHI Community Outreach:
- Teen program Operation:ReadySetGo4Life provides compassionate listening and printed or video materials to help teen clients build a positive, safe, and healthy environment for themselves and those around them.
- Partnerships with complementary community organizations such as Drug Crisis in Our Backyard, helping teens and families dealing with additional crises such as drug, opioid, or alcohol abuse; suicide; or domestic violence.
EHI Volunteering:
- Volunteers take part in multiple areas including donation sorting and organization, office support, client care, event planning, marketing and social media. Volunteers include members of the community, teens, board members, and pro bono professionals.
- As part of EHI’s “Pay it Forward” campaign, previous, and sometimes current, clients volunteer their time to help current clients through their crisis period by sharing their experiences and the knowledge they gained from their own past crisis experience, and by helping to organize incoming material donations.
