THE FIBROID FOUNDATION
We are the voice of women living with fibroids.
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Most women will be diagnosed with uterine fibroids. Many women suffer with debilitating fibroid symptoms such as pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, infertility and pregnancy complication, to name a few. To date, there is no cure. Fibroids affect women of most ethnicities, with women of African descent being diagnosed at 80%. Fibroids account for half of hysterectomies performed annually in the United States. Recent research has shown that less than 20% of the hysterectomies performed annually in the United States due to uterine fibroids, are necessary. The negative stigma of menstruation is a global concern, and can be a barrier to seeking treatment. Other health disparities still plague communities of women seeking treatment.
