Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Abdelkader Student Prize
We offer a contest which is split into two categories: middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (9-12). Students may write an essay between 300-500 words, based on their grade, answering a prompt regarding Abdelkader and his values. The prompt is age-appropriate for each category to receive the highest quality of entries for that age group. Additionally, there is an art option for both groups that requires students to create a graphic story (comic) based on one vignette from the Abdelkader Stage Project. Further details can be found on our website under Competitions -> Student Contests.
Abdelkader Educator Prize
This contest is open to educators, grades 6-12. Educators must create a lesson plan (minimum: two 45-minute class periods) based on AEP curricula. Materials can be used as written or adapted to meet the needs of the Educators. Teacher and student feedback on the experience are required. Further details can be found on our website under Competitions -> Abdelkader Educator Prize.

We update, add, and retire pieces to meet the changing needs of classroom teachers.
Our educational programming consists primarily of outreach to teachers, introducing them to our curricular offerings and listening to their curricular needs. At AEP, we believe that teachers hold the key to systemic change. We present at conferences, we hold professional development workshops, and we create relationships with individual teachers, actively supporting them in the classroom. In addition, we run annual student and educator c
