Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Most people buy their basic care and personal care items (including but not limited to soap, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, diapers and other baby care items, etc.) with their food and take them for granted. They don't realize that these items generally cannot be purchased with nutrition assistance funds (a.k.a. “food stamps"). There are many people with good access to food who have little or no access to these items, and we believe they are essential to success in school, finding work, and building a successful life.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Basic Care Items Assistance
We provide free basic care items that are essential to life and success but not available as a part of most nutrition assistance programs and often in very short supply. Typical items we distribute include toilet paper, soap, shampoo, deodorant, razors, toothpaste and tooth brushes, laundry detergent, diapers and other baby care items, and feminine care items.
School Supplies
At the beginning of the school year, we provide school supplies and backpacks for approximately 800 children/year.
Holiday Assistance
Families in need can request gifts their children would like for the holidays, and we do our best to provide those gifts. Typically we provide the requested gifts for approximately 750 children/year.
First Priority Housing
The Houston-Galveston corridor has one of the largest shortages of affordable housing in the nation with only 19 adequate affordable homes available for every 100 extremely low income individuals and families. As a result, many of our neighbors are living in truly appalling conditions. We don’t believe that there is any reason it has to be this way and that it’s the responsibility of those of us more fortunate to fix the problem.
First Priority Housing is a bold plan by which we believe can deliver large numbers of shipping container-based nice, affordable, low-maintenance, highly energy efficient, life-changing homes without the need for ongoing donations or government assistance to subsidize rental rates. Our vision is to develop and build neighborhoods where families that can't qualify as a renters today can experience a “pride of ownership” similar to a homeowner.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to help reduce generational poverty by helping our client families build faith and confidence that they have a bright future and that they can provide a better life for their families. We believe the items we provide are essential to success in school, finding work, and building a successful life.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We provide struggling families with free basic care and personal care items such as soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, baby care items, etc. and by giving them a place to share their burdens and renew their spirits. Our services are available to anyone in need.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Currently through our partner churches and with their support, we are able to serve about 2,000 people at our locations in League City, TX and Baytown, TX. For each additional $20 donation, we can serve another client for one year.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have had hundreds of success stories of clients getting back on their feet and turning their lives around. One client started a business and came back the following year and purchased Christmas presents for 50 other client children. We have had client children accepted to many colleges including both Harvard and Yale.
