What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Annual Funding Grant to Children's Hospital Colorado
We give a large annual donation to our team at Children's Hospital Colorado each October that they can use to fund research projects for the upcoming year.
Gift Card Distribution
The Olivia Caldwell Foundation gives nearly $3,000 in gift cards to the oncology department at Children's Hospital Colorado each May. These gift cards are for food, gas, and entertainment and are designed to help families deal with the costs associated with treatment, and for a boost of morale during long treatment stays.
Pediatric Specialty Outreach Clinic Program
The Olivia Caldwell Foundation supports the Pediatric Specialty Outreach Clinic Program in partnership with Children's Hospital Colorado and Wyoming Medical Center. We provide funding for the Clinic, which brings doctors up from Children's Hospital Colorado to see Wyoming children for a variety of medical specialties without the need to travel out of state. Our funding covers the cost of the lease of the Clinic, the lease of medical support professionals from WMC to run the Clinic, the cost of licensing and credentialing for the physicians to practice in Wyoming, and the travel expenses for the doctors. The Olivia Caldwell Foundation is also co-located with the Clinic along with our Social Work Program to ensure families receive the best care possible throughout their child's medical illness.
Patient Advocacy Program
The Olivia Caldwell Foundation offers a Patient Advocacy Program, which employs a Patient Advocacy Team at the Pediatric Specialty Outreach Clinic. Our team is available to help all families in Wyoming by providing support and connections to resources that assist with travel expenses, childcare, medical support, food assistance, and anything else a family needs throughout their child's illness. This program is available for free to all Wyoming families regardless of income level or type of diagnosis.
Mental Health Support
The Olivia Caldwell Foundation recently added Mental Health support to our offerings, including FREE mental health support groups and FREE educational webinars designed to support parents and caregivers of children who have a mental health concern.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Olivia Caldwell Foundation is dedicated to funding life-saving pediatric cancer research and programs to improve the lives of children battling cancer and other serious diseases in Wyoming and surrounding areas. We do this by:
- Funding innovative pediatric cancer research via unrestricted grants given to world-renowned researchers who are dedicated to the development of more effective and less toxic treatments for children with cancer
- Funding a Pediatric Specialty Outreach Clinic in Casper, WY which brings expert physicians to Casper to see Wyoming kids locally for a variety of chronic or complicated medical conditions, including cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, and neurology
- Offering a Patient Advocacy Program, which employs a Patient Advocacy Team at the Pediatric Clinic. Our Patient Advocacy Team is available to help families in Wyoming by providing support and connections to resources that assist with travel expenses, childcare, medical support, food assistance, and anything else a family needs throughout their child's illness. This program is available for free to all Wyoming families regardless of income level or type of diagnosis
- Finally, we have also recently added Mental Health Support to our offerings, including FREE support groups and educational webinars designed to support parents and caregivers of children who have a mental health concern
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Olivia Caldwell Foundation is committed to programs that improve the overall health and wellness of children who are battling chronic or complex medical conditions and their families. We do this not only by funding cancer research with the goal of improving survival rates for children diagnosed with cancer, but also with the goal of improving the quality of life for survivors.
We also do this by funding a Pediatric Specialty Outreach Clinic that allows more children to see their specialist without having to travel out of state to receive care. Instead, the same expert physician travels to them, which allows children to receive the same standard of care without creating the same burden on families (such as time away from work/school, the cost of travel, etc).
We also do this by offering a Patient Advocacy Program and our Mental Health Support Program. These programs are designed to support the overall health and wellness of the entire family unit, because we recognize it is not just the child who is sick that suffers when a medical condition is present. The entire family can struggle with making ends meet, anxiety, depression or other mental health concerns, and so much more.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Olivia Caldwell Foundation has been successful thus far in meeting our goals for improving access to pediatric health care and improving the health and quality of life of the entire family unit. We have steadily increased the amount we've given to pediatric cancer research each year. We have also added new clinics steadily since we first opened the Pediatric Specialty Outreach Clinic in 2019 and currently have 5 active clinics. We've also seen the Patient Advocacy Program grow significantly with 133 families served during our first year in 2021, and 180 families served thus far in 2022.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The Olivia Caldwell Foundation has given $645,000 to pediatric cancer research since 2014 and we will be giving another large grant donation in the fall of 2022.
The Pediatric Specialty Clinic started with the consolidation and expansion of two current local clinics for cardiology and endocrinology into one space, and has since grown to include the addition of 3 new clinics to our area, including pulmonology, neurology and gastroenterology. We've also been successful in creating a very child-friendly space for children to see their physicians, complete with murals painted on the wall of each exam room, child sized seating in the waiting room, and sensory toys for children to enjoy.
The Patient Advocacy Program has also grown rapidly since it first began in early 2021. In 2021 our team helped 133 families, and as of October 1st 2022, our team has helped an additional 180 families so far in 2022.
The Mental Health Support Program has also been successful. We've held 10 support groups with the guidance of a licensed therapist and have also held 6 educational webinars on various topics surrounding pediatric mental health since this program first began in May 2022.
