What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Solutions Lab

The Solutions Lab programs cultivate unique interventions with universities, public sector agencies, individuals, and private sector to develop technology solutions for public problems. The goal of the Solutions Lab is to lead the development of technology solutions for vexing public problems. Leading innovations requires participation from multiple actors. Solutions Lab programs match new and emerging technology expertise with real understanding of community problems. The KCDD Solutions Lab enables productivity in this space through a network of collaborators that can be deployed based on the specifics of the problem to solve.

Population(s) Served

IASP helps low-income families get quality, high-speed internet access by establishing new service, restoring existing interrupted service, or supporting existing service. The program is available to families throughout the 9-county Kansas City metro area who earn up to twice the Federal Poverty level. The IASP was established by KC Digital Drive (KCDD) in October-November 2020 to facilitate distribution of emergency funds from CARES Act funding allocated to Johnson County and from the Kansas City Regional COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund (Recovery Fund) at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. KCDD administers the program by promoting the service, screening applications, and helping selected families to obtain service, pay their internet bills, and connect to other digital resources in the community.

Population(s) Served

KC Goes Tech is a digital training and capacity building program launched in July 2022, to help expand the capacity for organizations that already provide human and social services to vulnerable populations but do not include digital access, training, or navigation as part of their service offering.
KC Goes Tech expands the capacity of community-service organizations with established client relationships to include digital training and navigation, ACP awareness/enrollment, help ensuring their clients have access to computers or tablets, and helping them network more effectively with existing digital literacy providers.
