Mission

War Horses for Veterans is the premier horsemanship, networking and personal growth program in the U.S. We are a Kansas City based nonprofit that brings combat veterans and first responders from across the country together in a safe and peaceful environment. Our five day programs are designed to teach the basics of horsemanship and create a network that will provide outlets for other opportunities and friendships. We use a combination of learning to work a horse, creating new networks and life coaching to help each veteran and first responder with their own personal growth. We are a 501(c)(3) Equine based Networking Non-profit for Combat Veterans and First Responders. None of this would be possible without the support from our community.

Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

War Horses for Veterans

War Horses for Veterans provide programs that translate into verbal and non-verbal communication techniques that participants will use in their personal and professional lives. The same techniques used to communicate with horses are also effective tools to communicate with humans in an operational environment and within the communities they serve. Our programs enable participants to maintain an optimal level of performance and develop their personal and professional abilities while simultaneously improving their mental health.

A large portion of our veterans and first responders throughout the nation struggle with levels of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and several other conditions attributed to constant exposure to traumatic events. This can lead to detachment from their families, loss of confidence, poor coping skills, and loss of ambition to be the best version of themselves. In time, this can lead to a physical and emotional breakdown that makes them mentally and physically fatigue
