What we aim to solve

Deforestation is a growing concern. Every second we lose the equivalent of a football field of forest and with this, we are seeing more frequent climate irregularities and the overall ripple effect. The interconnected benefits of planting trees are what we simply call our 6 pillars: Air, Water, Biodiversity, Social Impact, Health and Climate. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80 percent of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25 percent of all medicines.

Charting Impact

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?

What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?

How will they know if they are making progress?

What have they accomplished so far and what's next?

We plant trees. Every dollar we receive plants one tree. Our goal is to make it easy for people to understand the importance of trees and plant them in areas where they are needed most. While our focus is to plant trees were they are needed most, we recognize that our mission is one part of a larger picture. Not only is it necessary to protect existing forests AND plant new ones to create a net positive global benefit, but awareness, education, public involvement, research, creativity, inspirational leadership, and community-based initiatives are interconnected components of the greater mission we are all a part of. If we want to create a greener world, we’ll need to work together. That's why using our platform, we aim to be a central hub and a positive voice that brings these interconnected components together to support the global reforestation movement.

Our strategy is to build a brand as a tree planting organization and be the most recognized tree planting organization in the world. We make it simple to understand the importance of trees and get involved in reforestation. We provide fun ways for everyone to get outside through our tree planting events and get their 'hands in the dirt'. We use great photos, videos, social media and blogging to amplify the powerful, positive stories that emerge from these events. Using this approach we are educating more and more people about the importance of trees and creating the momentum and energy we need to get more people outdoors and scale up global reforestation efforts. We provide simple and fun educational resources through our Tree Ambassador and Schools Program to nurture the next generation of environmental stewards. We are nimble. Our simple' One dollar, One tree' approach makes it easy for people to get involved. Working closely with our many great partner organizations including the World Resource Institute, United States Forest Service, BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, local watersheds, land trusts and many international NGOs, we are able to identify and then quickly and easily connect dollars to reforestation projects in areas where they are needed most.

Our team is passionate and dedicated to providing excellent service to reforestation projects around the world that are in need of support. Since 2014 we have been building a strong foundation. This foundation has been built on our ability to create connections and develop strong partnerships with amazing global, regional and community-level reforestation organizations. We now have the foundation, in-house capabilities and momentum we need to scale our reforestation program, get more people outside and plant millions of trees around the world.

We will know if we are progressing and building our momentum if we continue to increase the number of trees we plant and the number of tree planting events we host each year.

To date we have planted over 6 million trees in 18 countries across 4 regions of the world (6 continents). We have restored over 74,000 acres of forests, sequestering approximately 87,000 tonnes of CO2e annually. We have also engaged with thousands of volunteers every year in 200+ cities. We will continue to build our momentum and energy, plant more trees and amplify the powerful, positive messages that inspire as many people as possible to to get outside and get their 'hands in the dirt'.
