Ellie's Hats

More than just a hat

aka Ellie's Hats   |   South Riding, VA   |  www.ellieshats.org

Mission

We founded Ellie’s Hats to brighten the day of children with cancer. Since Ellie’s Hats began five years ago, we have sent nearly 1,900 packages to children with cancer across the country. We have donated over $170,000 to local families and hospitals, in the form of checks, gift cards and other items which have a direct impact on the families

Notes from the nonprofit

Ellie's Hats is an organization that was started to help children that are battling cancer. While the hats will not cure a child that is battling cancer the hat does help to brighten their day and it lets families know that people care.

Hat donations

We donate hats to children battling cancer and to hospitals that treat pediatric cancer patients.

Population(s) Served

Newly admitted pediatric cancer patients are given a large tote bag with items for them and their parents to help make their time in the hospital better.

Population(s) Served

Each month the social workers at the PSV Clinic in the Schar Cancer Institute give us the names of five families who can use some financial help. In 2019 we donated $60,000 worth of checks to these families.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To help brighten the day of a child with cancer. To provide financial support to local families who are struggling financially due to their child being treated for cancer.

We receive hats from hat drives done at schools, places of business and from individuals. We receive financial support for businesses, individuals and fundraisers like our golf tournament.

We receive most of our hats through donations and when we need to purchase a special hat we use our funds. We have a number of individuals and businesses who continue to support us on a regular basis.

We have sent close 2,000 packages to children with cancer and have donated 1,000's of hats to hospitals and clinics. We have donated 65 $1,000 checks to local families.
